We are experienced and effective at coordinating cross-border matters and matters involving multiple defendants, with a view to ensuring our clients receive intelligent, independent representation to protect their distinct interests.
In rare cases, we may act as plaintiffs’ counsel in selected class actions. These cases have included a tax dispute against the Government of Canada and an action on behalf of rooming-house tenants against the City of Toronto.
We also regularly represent the Law Foundation of Ontario in responding to claims for lawyers’ costs in unsuccessful class proceedings, enhancing our depth of perspective in this important and developing area of practice.
We realize that modern class action litigation is time-consuming and can pose a serious threat to the viability of defendants, while distracting senior personnel from ongoing business obligations. We are experienced in mitigating such effects.
